Quilt Camp

	Pioneer Quilters go to Quilt Camp two times a year - once in the spring and once in the fall. Next Camp Date: September 14-19, 2010 Location: Mt.Hope Bible Camp, Forbestown, CA. Emergency phone numbers: Office - 530-675-2022; Kitchen - 530-675-2088 Directions: Take Highway 65 North to Marysville. In Marysville, take Highway 20 East towards Grass Valley for 11.5 miles. Turn left on road E21 (also called Marysville Road). Go through the towns of Browns Valley and Brownsville. Once through Brownsville, after 3 miles turn left on Challenge Road Cut Off. The Mt. Hope sign is one mile on the right. Drive all the way down to the Chapel, at the base of the complex, to receive your cabin assignment and to unload your sewing supplies. Your cabin assignment will be based upon your desire to be in either a quiet or not-so-quiet environment! Schedule: Camp starts at 3:00 pm on Tuesday. Departure time is by 12 noon on Sunday. A continental breakfast will be served that morning. If you plan to arrive later than Tuesday or depart earlier that Sunday, please make arrangements with the retreat coordinator. Accommodations: rooms are in an 8-room dorm, 2 or 3 women per room (depending on whether trundles are used), with clean and roomy indoor restroom and shower facilites. Meals - 2 per day, at 10 am and 5 pm - are gourmet good. Registration form: for Fall 2010. Mail to Wendy Ellinger; must be postmarked no earlier than August 1.

Activities: bring your own projects to work on, plus a great attitude and readiness to have fun! The conference center is located in a wooded area with hiking trails around the grounds that you may want to expore. There is a large grassy area adjacent to our sewing rooms, which is very conducive to catnaps, reading, or conversation.

Special activities for the Fall 2010 Retreat:

Block exchange: 9 1/2" (9" finished) CARD TRICK made from batiks: light batik background, and a medium and a dark batik for design. (This block can be found in the book Around The Block by Judy Hopkins)
Fat quarter raffle: anything with dots, circles and/or bubbles (quilt shop quality fabric)
Thread raffle: Fall colors and neutrals
Name tag - bring a favorite

Things to remember:

Absolutely no smoking at Mt. Hope - indoors or outdoors!
No alcohol on the grounds or in dorm rooms.
The soil around the conference center is reddish and abudant. If you go for a hike, be sure to bring shoes that won't be ruined by the red soil.
Once you have unloaded your sewing equipment, cars need to be parked in the dorm parking lots.
Be respectful of your fellow quilting "campers" in both the sewing and dorm areas.
