Pioneer Quilters go to Quilt Camp two times a year – once in the spring and once in the autumn - at the beautiful and relaxing retreat center of Mt. Hope Bible Camp near Forbestown, CA. Campers enjoy socializing, sewing activities, games and delicious meals prepared by Mt Hope staff.
2025 Dates:
Spiring, April 21-26
Fall, September 8-13
Quilt Camp is FUN! You bring your projects with you, can collaborate with other campers, share, and have great food you don't have to make yourself. There are hiking trails and a large grassy area that is fantastic for taking a catnap, reading or just enjoying some fresh air. We all sew together in the new Chapel. We have lots of room; each person has a whole table, with extra room for cutting and laying out projects.
If you have never been to Quilt Camp, it’s highly recommended!
These are the options: (please, no exceptions!)
Location: Mt.Hope Bible Camp, Forbestown, CA.
Emergency phone numbers: (Office) 530-675-2022; (Kitchen) 530-675-2088
Directions: Traveling via Hwy 65: Take Highway 65 North to Marysville. In Marysville, take Highway 20 East towards Grass Valley for 11.5 miles. Turn left on road E21 (also called Marysville Road).
Traveling via Hwy 49: Take Hwy 80 East. Take the Hwy 49 exit towards Grass Valley. Take the CA-20 W/Empire St Ramp to Marysville. Turn right on road E21 (also called Marysville Road).
Once you are on Marysville Rd, go through the towns of Browns Valley and Brownsville. Approximately three miles past Brownsville, turn left on Challenge Road Cut Off (one road past New York). The Mt. Hope entrance is approximately one mile on the right. Look for their prominent sign. The sleeping cabins are a short way down the driveway on the right. Signs are posted on the doors of each building with the names of the campers. Individual rooms are not assigned but are available on a first come, first served basis. Your cabin assignment will be based on your desire to be in either a quiet or not-so-quiet environment.
The sleeping accommodations are in several air-conditioned/heated 8-room dormitories. Each dorm room has a sink and mirror and accommodates 2 or 3 women comfortably on single beds (depending on whether trundles are used), but campers can request a single occupancy room. The indoor restrooms and shower facilities are clean, roomy, and shared (but relatively private). You will need to bring your own bedding, towels, and toiletries. Have fun and dress up your bed with a quilt!
Meals are provided twice a day (10 am and 5 pm) and are delicious and plentiful. Coffee, tea, and hot water are available all day. Fresh water is supplied as well. Feel free to bring a snack to share! A refrigerator is available to store items that need to keep cool.
Activities: Bring plenty of projects to work on, whatever you need to make a comfortable workstation for yourself, plus a great attitude and readiness to have fun! Mt Hope Conference Center is in a wooded area with short hiking trails around the grounds that you may want to explore. There is a large grassy area adjacent to our sewing room, which is very conducive to catnaps, reading, or conversation.
Other Activities:
Fabric Raffle – The fabric theme for this camp’s raffle is Grunge. You only need one fat quarter to participate, but you can bring more. For each fat quarter you put in the basket, you get one ticket to win a curated bundle of those fat quarters.
Fabrics for playing "31" card game – You will need three fat quarters of batik fabrics for each game. Quilt shop quality fabrics* only!
Fabrics for Left, Right, Center games – This is a fast-paced dice game with strips of fabrics as our stakes. We play two games because they go fast! You don’t have to play both games, but you’ll be hooked after one. For the game, each player brings three 2 ½ x WOF strips of quilt shop quality* fabric as her stake. Blue prints for these games. Quilt shop quality fabrics* only!
*Quilt shop quality fabrics are those that are available at any quilt shop rather than those typically found at Joann’s, Hobby Lobby or Tuesday Morning.
Pop-up Shop - Pieces of Love, from Oroville, will bring a pop-up shop so we can shop a selection of merchandise on Wednesday.
Massage - By popular demand, we are attempting to book a masseuse to be available by appointment during our stay. More news to come.
